THE TRAINING OFFER

The training offered by the University of Barcelona, based on quality and innovation, attracts over 60,000 students each year and covers all spheres of knowledge: humanities, health sciences, social sciences, experimental sciences and engineering. The 2018 Europe Teaching Rankings, published by The Times Higher Education (THE), places the University of Barcelona in 19th position in Europe and as the first Spanish public university. For the academic year 2019-2020, the UB is offering 73 bachelor’s degrees and 157 university master’s degrees, in addition to 48 doctoral programmes and over 900 postgraduate courses.

RESEARCH ACTIVITY

In the sphere of research, it is the only Spanish University which belongs to the League of European Research Universities (LERU), having established itself as the most innovative Spanish university, according to the ranking Reuters Top 100: The World’s Most Innovative Universities, where it is in 75th position worldwide. This is thanks to the staff involved in research, with more than 5,700 scientific publications indexed, the 276 consolidated research groups, and the research structures, including especially 15 own research institutes, 5 research centres and 9 observatories.

EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC ACTIVITY

With a graduate employment rate of 87.26% — 88.44% for master’s degree holders and 90.67 % for doctors —, the UB stands out in employability, a sphere in which it is one of the world’s top 90 universities according to the 2019 QS Graduate Employability Rankings.
As for the impact generated by the University of Barcelona, according to the report by BiGGAR Economics (The Economic Contribution of LERU Universities), this is estimated at €2.3bn in gross added value for the Spanish economy and 39,300 jobs (2016 figures).

UB IN THE RANKINGS

At present, the University of Barcelona is among the world’s top 200 universities according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). In the QS World University Rankings 2020, it is also in first position for Spain. For its part, The Times Higher Education considered the UB to be one of the world’s top 25 universities over 400 years old.
